Americans are being urged to leave Ukraine immediately by the US Embassy in Kyiv after Russia upped its missile attacks on cities in retribution for the Crimea bridge explosion.
The embassy warned that today, Russia began attacking both government buildings in Kyiv and elsewhere as well as civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
In retaliation for the Kerch Bridge, Vladimir Putin launched over 75 missiles and suicide drone attacks throughout Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of eight persons and the injuries of 24.
Along with Khmelnytsky, Lviv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Frankiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, and Ternopil, the capital Kyiv was struck for the first time in months.
The US embassy is now advising all Americans to seek refuge and then make plans to leave the country by ground transportation as soon as they can due to the threat of intensifying civilian assaults.
The US Embassy in Kiev stated: “Civilians and civilian infrastructure are directly threatened by Russia’s ongoing attacks in Ukraine.
When it is safe to do so, US citizens are advised to leave Ukraine immediately utilizing privately accessible ground transportation alternatives, according to the US Embassy.
The security warning said that the situation in Ukraine is “extremely volatile” and might become worse at any time.
As police said that the missiles had struck close to a children’s play area in a park and a pedestrian bridge, videos and photographs from the Ukrainian capital today showed burning automobiles and corpses in the streets.
Although Russia has not yet provided an explanation for the attacks, it is likely meant to be a show of might after weeks of battlefield setbacks.
The explosion at the Kerch bridge (shown), according to the furious Russian president who is chairing a Security Council meeting today, was intended to damage “critically essential civilian infrastructure.”
Additional safety advice was supplied by the US Embassy for Ukrainian citizens who could be vulnerable to Russian missile strikes.
“Seek shelter right away if you hear a big explosion or if sirens go off,” it said.
If you’re in a house or other building, go to the level that has the fewest outside walls, windows, and openings; shut any doors; and sit close to an internal wall, away from any windows or openings.
If you are outside, take shelter as soon as you can in a sturdy building; if that is not an option, lay down and shield your head with your hands.
‘Be aware that falling debris poses a serious danger even if the approaching missile or drone is shot down.
“After the assault, avoid any debris, and keep an eye on major news channels for government direction,” was the advice given.
The current position, according to President Biden, poses the biggest nuclear danger since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
