Will Vaulks has expressed his desire to be called up for Wales’ upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, following his disappointment of missing out on both the European Championship and World Cup squads with his country.
Vaulks made his international debut in 2019 under Ryan Giggs and registered an assist.
However, he missed out on the Euro 2020 squad and was subsequently omitted from Rob Page’s 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
Despite this, Vaulks has continued to perform well for Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently at the top of the League One table.
Vaulks has taken a diplomatic approach to his hopes of being selected for the Wales squad, acknowledging that he can only control his performance for Sheffield Wednesday.
The midfielder stated that he has not received any contact from boss Page but expressed his desire to represent his country, should he be given the opportunity.
Wales face Croatia in Split on March 25 before hosting Latvia in Cardiff three days later.
Wales have a midfield dilemma to solve following the retirement of Joe Allen, and Dylan Levitt could miss out through injury, which would limit Page’s options.
Ethan Ampadu, Joe Morrell, and Aaron Ramsey are the likely midfield stars to be selected for the upcoming qualifiers, while Matt Smith is also an option.
