Wednesday night, a Washington barbershop owner was murdered in his own store while providing a haircut to an 8-year-old child.
A gunman entered the JQ Barber Shop in Puyallup, approximately 30 miles south of Seattle, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and shot the barber multiple times, according to a police statement.
The victim, a 43-year-old Tacoma resident, was eventually identified as the barbershop’s proprietor. His identity has not been made public by authorities.
The shop was occupied by numerous individuals who are assisting with the inquiry, according to the police.
Witnesses informed authorities that as soon as the gunman entered the store, he walked “straight” to the booth where the proprietor was cutting the child’s hair and began firing.
The haircut did not result in any harm to the child.

“According to these witnesses, the suspect entered the establishment and proceeded immediately to the booth where the victim was cutting the hair of an eight-year-old child. “According to witnesses, the perpetrator entered the booth and fired multiple shots at the victim,” police added.
Police reported that the gunman, who was described as being 5’8″ tall, of an unknown race, and wearing black pants, a black jacket, and possibly a mask, fled the scene on foot.
The man was already deceased when Central Pierce Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the site.
The shooter, according to police, fled the area and has not yet been located.
Officers have conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area, including the use of a police dog, but have not yet located the gunman.
Investigative Services Unit of the Puyallup Police Department is investigating the shooting (ISU).
