After her three-month vacation led fans to believe she was trying to book a show in London, Carrie Bickmore denounced the UK’s decision to quit the European Union.
The Project presenters responded to Bickmore’s argument on Wednesday by labeling the UK “unlivable” due to the spiraling value of the pound and skyrocketing inflation.
Bickmore said that the majority of Brexit supporters lacked sufficient knowledge of the issue and were unaware of the financial repercussions of their decision to leave the EU in 2020.
When we were there, she said, “I was really struck by how many individuals I talked to, like taxi drivers and locals who voted for Brexit, were like “Oh no, we didn’t grasp it fully.”
“They just weren’t informed; they were given the opportunity to significantly influence what happens to their nation, and then they said, “Oh, I don’t like this; can we go back?” and it was already decided,” says the author.
More than two million Britons already face increasing mortgage payments that will force many of them to leave their homes, analysts have warned, and the UK is on the verge of a housing price meltdown within the next two years.
During the financial crisis, co-host Rachel Corbett said she knows folks who are having a difficult time making ends meet.
“I have pals over there who are basically choosing between food and energy because of the expenses.” It seems to be a very unlivable location, she remarked.
Bickmore made her remarks barely two months after she returned from a shockingly brief visit in the UK after her announcement that she and her family were “relocating.”
She said in March that starting in April, she would be taking “a few months off” from presenting on Chanel 10 in order to travel across Europe with her boyfriend Chris Walker and their three kids from a new home in London.
At the time, she said, “Chris and I are embarking on a family journey.”
We’ve been wanting to do it for a long time, but for a variety of reasons, the timing hasn’t been ideal. Nevertheless, we believe that the ideal moment will never come.
Fans, though, believed Bickmore could be trying to quit her job permanently and find work in the UK.
According to a source in the business, “Carrie could easily do morning TV, or stick to her guns and take up an evening current affairs-style role.”
“Her managers will no doubt work very hard to make the most of Carrie’s visits in the UK for her.”
Bickmore’s abrupt return to The Project in July without warning came as a surprise to the audience.
It was always long-service leave and to spend time on an extended vacation with her family, a TV source commented about the return on the Media Spy site. She wasn’t relocating there permanently or to further her profession.
Her children returned to school today. She often skipped term two. The students can’t miss more than a term of school without ruining their education. There isn’t a plot going on here.
Since The Project’s inception in 2009, Bickmore has been a crucial part of the team.
With her spouse Walker, she has two daughters, Evie, age six, and Adelaide, age three. She also has a son, Oliver, age 14, from a previous marriage to the late Greg Lange, who passed away from brain cancer in 2010.
