Americans seeking to get an early start on their Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving Day have fewer alternatives than before the outbreak, as more stores are now closed.
The practice of big retail chains initiating Black Friday deals in-store on Thanksgiving was abruptly discontinued in 2020, when COVID-19 made visiting to congested malls very unpleasant.
Although it was promoted as a gift of a day off to employees, the public appeared to embrace the concept. Target, for example, stated in 2021 that it will never again be open for in-store shopping on Thanksgiving.
In a hurry, consumers in need of last-minute supplies or essentials can find some stores open on Thursday, but with reduced hours. Here are the stores that will be closed and open on Thanksgiving.
