WASHINGTON – Donald Trump left Nancy Pelosi with a terrible taste in her mouth.
During a lunch interview with CNN, the 82-year-old California Democrat did not conceal her distaste for the 76-year-old former president.
Pelosi reprimanded the network’s Jamie Gangel for asking “what it would mean” if Trump were to return to the White House in 2024, stating, “I don’t think we should speak about him while we’re eating.”
“Really? Another Trump administration? Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) roared in laughter as Pelosi continued.
When Gangel pointed out that Pelosi had referred to the 45th president as “crazy,” the outgoing speaker doubled down, stating, “I think his family or somebody ought to intervene.” I do not believe he is honest, no.”
The interview, conducted at a Chinese restaurant in the nation’s capital, was the first time the two Democratic leaders sat down with the cable network together.
Schumer, for his part, expressed confidence to Gangel that Trump would not become the 47th president.
“I do not believe that will occur. The American people have matured,” Schumer stated. It took some time, but they succeeded.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi indicated that former President Donald Trump requires “intervention.”
Both Schumer and Pelosi disregarded public opinion by expressing their desire for President Biden, 80, to run for reelection and win.
Pelosi stated, “I believe President Biden has performed admirably as president of the United States.” “I hope he runs for re-election. He has been an excellent president.”
Biden has not officially declared whether or not he would run for president in 2024, but he has stated that he will make a definitive decision in the new year.
“Consider his accomplishments,” Schumer remarked. “He’s done a great, excellent job. And if he runs, he will have my whole support.”
Trump is the only candidate from either major party to launch a presidential bid for 2024.
