Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has debunked reports that he will be the running mate of former Vice President and presidential hopeful for the 2023 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Governor Wike spoke on Tuesday at the Government House in Port Harcourt during a PDP stakeholders meeting.
The Rivers Governor hinted that at the appropriate time, members of the party in the South will speak in one voice about their decision on the 2023 presidential election.
He said: “Forget about the propaganda and posters you’re seeing on social media. I have not said that I want to run for any office and even if I want to run, nobody can stop me.
“I have not discussed being vice to anybody and nobody is vice to me. All those things are speculations and imaginations of those who are afraid of us.”
Governor Wike also condemned media mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi for going above his threshold for zoning the 2023 presidential slot.
He said: “I have not seen that kind of politics before, doing the job of the party by zoning position.”
The Governor also urged members of the PDP scheming to be the party’s 2023 governorship candidate and other positions in Rivers to be calm, as it was too early to start campaigning for the position.
He said: “Those of you who are interested in the governorship of Rivers State should calm down first, it’s still early. Let INEC get done with the electoral amendment Bill and let our party bring guidelines.
“I heard people are already scheming for positions when candidates haven’t emerged. Those of you waiting for my anointing, I am not a pastor.
“If you want anointing to become governor, you can go to your pastors. All my prayer is for God to direct us to have the right person to succeed us.
“We are coming towards the end of our administration, all we need is your constant prayers for God to keep the PDP united in the state. We want whoever that will take over from us to surpass what we have achieved.”
Governor Wike did not spare his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi as he claimed he emptied the Rivers State Government House.
The Governor revealed that he had to buy everything afresh when he got to Rivers State Government House.
“They left with everything and nothing was left behind and I had to replace them all. As we speak now I am renovating the place for somebody to occupy in May next year,” he said.
SHOCKING REVELATION! Why Amaechi Didn’t Hand Over To Me Before Leaving Office In 2015 — Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of destroying the state before leaving office in 2015.
Governor Wike alleged that his predecessor converted some of the properties belonging to the state to his personal use and sold some other valuable assets to his cronies.
According to Naija News, the Rivers State Governor stated these on Tuesday during a stakeholder meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Governor Wike alleged that Amaechi refused to hand over to him in 2015 because of his decision to cover some of the atrocities allegedly committed by his administration.
Wike disclosed that his government has recovered the Legacy 600 jet belonging to the state which was abandoned in Munich, Germany, but could not find the Dash 8 propeller aircraft also bought by the Peter Odili-led administration.
He noted that the last time anyone heard of the Dash 8 plane was when Amaechi vowed not to sell the aircraft to Chief Victor Odili, who offered to purchase it at the cost of $5million.
Wike said: “Chief Victor Odili offered to buy Dash 8 at $5 million. In the Executive Council, the governor (Amaechi) said no, that he had a better offer and the better offer ($6million) is from Cross River state when Liyel Imoke was the governor of the State and that he wanted to use it for the Obudu Ranch.
“Out of that $6 million, Liyel had paid N100m as a deposit. Up till now, where is the balance? Where is our Dash 8? If they sold it to Cross River state, where is the balance? The asset that ought to be documented and handed over to who is coming in.
