The royal family is finding Prince Harry’s explosive new memoir to be quite the grave matter.
One of the more odd anecdotes the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex penned about his life as the “Spare” heir to the British throne was his description of his family as a “death cult.”
Early copies of his highly anticipated and closely guarded tell-all were stunningly leaked in Spain this week, but it isn’t scheduled to be formally released until January 10.
According to an excerpt published by the Sun, Harry wrote in his book that he and his estranged brother Prince William’s life “were constructed on death” and that their experiences were clouded by grief.
The creator of the Invictus Games wrote, “I noticed that even our finest moments, including my best recollections, somehow involved death.”
“Our brightest days were cast in shadow by death; our lives were based on it. When I looked back, I didn’t see time in discrete places, only dances with death.
Windsor Castle, one of the Firm’s royal homes in England, was described by Harry as a “tomb, the walls packed with ancestors.”
Harry claimed that “animal blood holds the Tower of London together.”
The dedication page, which was also included in the book’s leak, did not include 40-year-old William or his father, King Charles.
The memoir is dedicated to his late mother Princess Diana, his late wife Meghan Markle, and his children Archie and Lilibet.
In a candid interview with Anderson Cooper on Sunday’s “60 Minutes,” Harry revealed more about the state of his relationships with his older brother, father, and “villain” stepmom Camilla in advance of the release of his book.
The father of two allegedly stated that he hasn’t spoken to William and Charles, both 74, “in awhile.”
Harry then acknowledged that he does not currently communicate with either man and that their most recent conversation was “not recently.”
Harry said he’s “looking[ing] forward]” to making amends with the king and the duke of cambridge.
Every time we ask that question, no one gives us any information, he continued, “but Meghan and I have continued to say that we will openly apologize for anything that we did wrong.”
He continued, “I really look forward to having that family element back.” I’m looking forward to getting along with my brother. My relationship with my father and other family members is something I eagerly anticipate.
