The Federal Government has extended invitations to approximately 65 world leaders, including Heads of State, to attend the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s 16th President on May 29.
It has been reported that numerous African leaders have expressed their interest in attending the ceremony, which will be held at Eagle Square in Abuja.
Prominent Figures to Grace the Event
According to an anonymous director from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the swearing-in ceremony is expected to be attended by 65 world leaders from Africa, Europe, and America.
The event will also see the presence of former presidents, diplomats, heads of international organizations, prominent Nigerians, as well as representatives from foreign governments and agencies.
Pre-Inauguration Programs and Notable Guests
The official further disclosed that the inauguration activities will commence on Thursday, with the investiture of Bola Tinubu as the recipient of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR), and Kashim Shettima, the Vice-President-elect, as the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
The event is expected to be attended by representatives from Nigeria’s traditional allies, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Germany, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Israel, Turkey, among others.
Broad African Representation and International Attendance
The director emphasized that invitations have been extended to all 54 African countries, with a significant number of African leaders expected to attend the inauguration.
The event aims to provide a platform for global representation, with attendance anticipated from various countries across Africa, Europe, and America.
He stated, “We have 54 countries in Africa and most of them have been invited to the inauguration; so, we don’t expect less than 65 world leaders from Africa, Europe, and America at the event.”
