IPOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, disclosed on Monday why President Muhammadu Buhari’s Federal Government continues to detain its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Emma Powerful, an IPOB spokesman, claimed that the Federal Government was holding hostage Kanu in order to infiltrate and destroy the group from inside.
Powerful stated in a statement that the Federal Government was irritated with Kanu because he refused to accept monetary and property inducements.
According to Powerful: ” The attention of the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been drawn to the secret plans by the Buhari government and his Fulani kinsmen to illegally detain our leader Nnamdi KANU for as long as possible.
” Their annoyance with our leader is his blunt refusal to take properties and monetary inducement offered him to abandon the struggle for Biafra liberation.
” The Federal Government decided to hold our leader indefinitely to see if it can possibly infiltrate the ranks of our great movement and destroy it from inside while our leader is in custody.
” The federal government is also relying on the promise by some traitors and black sheep in America and Europe that they would assist it to realise the evil plot. The promise was made to the federal government during their secret visit to Aso Rock last December.
” We are also aware that the Federal government has been lobbying the international community to enlist their support against Biafra liberation but they won’ t succeed. Therefore, anybody distracting or causing division in the IPOB family is a tool knowingly or unknowingly working for the Federal Government of Nigeria.
” The fact remains that Biafra is a divine project. It has gone beyond any single individual, including our leader. Millions of the oppressed Biafran youths home and abroad are now more aware and conscious than ever. It’ s only a matter of time. Biafra MUST come. It can only be delayed but certainly not suppressed. ”
Insecurity: You lied, ESN not militants, cannibals– IPOB fires back at Army
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Tuesday, accused the Nigerian security forces of lying against its members.
IPOB said contrary to claims by security agencies, that Eastern Security Network, ESN, is not a militant group and are not cannibals.
A statement by IPOB’ s spokesman, Emma Powerful, reiterated that the group has no camps in Lilu, Orsumoghu in Anambra State and Mbaise, Obowo in Imo State.
Powerful in a statement said, ” The global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU wish to once again, debunk the falsehood and propaganda by the Nigeria army and police against innocent Biafran youths especially Eastern Security Network ESN operatives.
We won’ t force non- Igbo tribes– IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said Biafra is optional for non- Igbo ethnic nationalities in the old Eastern region.
IPOB said it would not coerce other ethnic nationalities to be a part of Biafra.
Emma Powerful, spokesman of IPOB, however, said they must conduct a referendum.
Powerful explained that referendum would allow the people to decide their fate on Biafra agitation.
In a statement he signed, Powerful said: ” Any tribe or ethnicity who doesn’ t want to be part of Biafra will never be forced to do so. Such tribes are free to go on their own but you must conduct referendum for your people to decide their fate on the agitation for Biafra. ”
He recalled that Igbos never fought other ethnic nationalities in the old Eastern region in the past because they believe in unity.
Powerful urged other tribes to fight for their freedom because they won’ t be forced to join Biafra.
Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB worse than terrorists, they are satanic– Asari Dokubo
Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant leader, has described Nnamdi Kanu and his group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as worse than terrorists.
Dokubo described Kanu and IPOB as a satanic movement.
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Force (NDPSF), frowned against the sit- at- home order usually imposed across the Southeast during Kanu’ s court proceedings.
Speaking on Sunday during a Facebook live, Dokubo said residents of the Southeast obey the order for fear of being killed and not because they love Kanu and IPOB.
He accused Kanu of being responsible for closure of schools and businesses in the Southeast.
