Cameron Young’s career took off at the Arnold Palmer Invitational a year ago when he tied for 13th place, securing him an invitation to his first Masters.
Despite finishing runner-up in four tournaments last season, including the British Open at St. Andrews, Young is still seeking his first PGA Tour victory.
However, those second-place finishes raised his ranking and profile, allowing him to play in the biggest events in the world, in which he excelled.
Young almost won the PGA Championship, finishing just a shot out of a playoff and taking third place.
Despite the close calls, Young recognizes that winning a major is something he can do.
His participation in the Presidents Cup alongside stars such as Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and Collin Morikawa helped him get more comfortable on a personal and golfing level.
A year later, Young is more comfortable in his own skin and has played in all the big events.
The PGA Tour brought him into the media centre for a full-scale interview, a far cry from the only interview request he had a year ago at Bay Hill.
Young remains grateful for the opportunities he has and recognizes that things could have gone wrong at any point along the way.
However, he looks back on his year with gratitude that things worked out the way they did.
