Zakes Bantwini, a singer and music producer, has received his first South African Music Award (SAMA) in sixteen years.
Born Zakhele Madida, Zakes Bantwini has won two South African Music Awards (SAMAs), including the Highest Radio Airplay Composers Award and Best Collaboration for the smash tune “Osama” with Kasango.
Madida thanked the industry during his acceptance speech at the Sun City Superbowl in the Platinum Province.

Tonight is a lovely evening. This is the first time in my career that I have won the SAMA. “I’ve been doing this (music) for 16 years,” stated Madida.
“It proves that delayed ambitions are not denied dreams, but I couldn’t have done it without this guy,” he continued, alluding to fellow music producer Kasanga.
This is the ideal partnership. This is a collaboration between myself and Kasango.
“Music is about working together. It’s about drums blending with guitars and the keyboard. And every time we take this stage, we claim all the credit, but there are others behind us, who have worked with us, who make us great. “Special thanks to my crew,” he said.
Recently, Madida declared that he will shortly hang up his microphone.
“I am taking a sabbatical from the industry to focus on other elements of my life,” he told IOL Lifestyle, avoiding the term “retirement.”
Collen Ntala Mmotla, better known as Chymamusique, won Album of the Year at the 2022 South African Music Awards for Musique on Sunday evening.
In addition, Chymamusique won Male Artist of the Year and Best Dance Album for Musique.

The people voted for Haksul Muziq to be the SAMPRA Artist of the Year, which is another first for the SAMA28.
“This is enormous for me. This is my very first prize. This is my very first nomination. Thank you to everyone who voted for me,” said Haksul Muziq, whose true name is Tokoloho Mavuso.
Musa Keys won the award for Album of the Year for Vula Mlomo, while Makhadzi won the award for Music Video of the Year for Ghanama.

Platinumb Heart Open won Female Artist of the Year and Best Adult Contemporary Album for Msaki.

Msaki said during her acceptance speech, “I am extremely honored to be standing here and to serve your spirits.”
The award for the most streamed song of the year went to Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa for “Abalele.”
Stogie T, A-Reece, Phantom Steeze, Venom, Themba, Raspy, Buzzi Lee, and Shishiliza paid a heartfelt homage to hip hop veteran Rikhado ‘Riky Rick’ Makhado.
