Real Betis CEO Points Fingers at West Ham in Fornals Deal Drama

TDPel Media –
In a surprising turn of events, the deal between Real Betis and West Ham United for midfielder Pablo Fornals faced complications on the deadline day, leading to frustration and disappointment.
Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon has placed the blame squarely on West Ham for the failure to complete the move, citing a computer problem on the part of the Premier League club.
Fornals’ Anticipated Move to LaLiga
The 27-year-old Spaniard, Pablo Fornals, had been set to bid farewell to West Ham after serving the club for five years.
With an agreed-upon €8 million (£6.8 million) fee, Fornals hoped for increased playing time in LaLiga, having faced limited opportunities under the management of David Moyes, starting just four Premier League games in the current season.
Late Drama and Computer Glitch
As the deal was in its final stages, a last-minute hiccup occurred, with Alarcon revealing that a computer problem at West Ham disrupted the process.

He emphasized that Betis had promptly and correctly sent all the required documents, but West Ham’s technical issue caused a halt. Alarcon expressed hope for a resolution in the coming days and conveyed optimism about the deal going through.
Moyes Responds to the Uncertainty
David Moyes, West Ham’s manager, acknowledged the possibility of the Fornals deal being ratified.
He explained that paperwork had been tied up just before the deadline, and while he couldn’t confirm the outcome, he expressed understanding of the players’ desire to move on for more game-time.
Parallel Woes with Benrahma’s Transfer
The collapse of Fornals’ move added to West Ham’s deadline day woes, following Said Benrahma’s failed switch to Lyon.
The French club accused West Ham of ‘incomprehensible behaviour,’ stating that they failed to file required paperwork despite continuous reminders.

Lyon plans to appeal the decision, and West Ham, feeling they ran out of time due to difficult negotiations, will await the outcome.
In a strongly-worded statement, Lyon expressed regret over West Ham’s behavior, citing a ‘deep lack of respect’ toward the club and the player.
The statement indicated Lyon’s intention to pursue appropriate procedures to validate the operation later and potentially hold West Ham accountable.
Despite these off-field issues, West Ham’s focus remains on their on-field performance.
Currently sitting sixth in the Premier League, they are set to face Manchester United at Old Trafford in their upcoming fixture.
